OUR PROGRAMS

Melfort Daycare Co-operative offers licensed early learning and child care programs designed to support children’s growth and development in a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.

We provide full-time and casual child care, with programs tailored to meet the needs of children from infancy through preschool and early school age.

Full-Time Child Care

Full-time care is available at two licensed sites:

Site 1
🕖 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• 43 licensed spaces
• Ages 18 months up to 6 years

​

Site 2
🕖 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• 32 licensed spaces
• Ages 6 weeks up to 6 years
• Includes one limited school-age space (typically up to age 6)

Part-Time Child Care

Due to a sustained demand for full-time child care, part-time spaces are not currently offered.
The Board of Directors regularly reviews enrolment needs and may re-evaluate part-time services in the future if capacity allows.

Casual Child Care

Casual child care is a great option for families who need occasional, flexible care throughout the month. MDC offers a limited number of casual spaces each month, based on availability, when full-time enrolled children are not in attendance.

• Casual care is limited to up to 9 days per month.
• Use beyond 9 days will be charged at the full-time rate.
• Families must contact the daycare the afternoon prior to the day care is needed. If care is required in advance, families are encouraged to contact the daycare within two (2) weeks of the requested dates, and management will provide guidance on whether care may be available.
• Care is provided only if space is available.

School-Age Child Care

At this time, MDC does not currently offer a school-age child care program. Each year, MDC assesses community demand and operational feasibility for:

• A school-year program (Before/ After School Care from September–June), and/or

• A summer program (Tull -Time Care from July–August)

If sufficient demand and capacity exist, a program may be developed and communicated to families prior to the start of the applicable school year.

​

Families outside of MDC who may be interested in a future school-age or summer program are encouraged to contact the daycare directly to express interest.

 

WAITLIST & ENROLMENT 

MDC currently maintains a waitlist for many age groups. Families are encouraged to join the waitlist as early as possible.

• Placement and prioritization follow the MDC Enrolment Policy, which outlines eligibility, waitlist management, and space allocation.

We recommend reviewing the Enrolment Policy before joining the waitlist to better understand how spaces are offered.​

FEES

Melfort Daycare Co-operative is committed to providing high-quality, affordable child care. Fees are set in accordance with provincial and federal funding frameworks and are reviewed periodically.

• Full-Time Child Care (Infant, Toddler & Pre-School Programs): $217.50/ month.

• Casual Child Care (Infant, Toddler & Pre-School): $10/ day.
